Mission Statement
Immediate
Ongoing
- To reach out to those whose life is, or has, been affected by cancer either as a survivor, as a caregiver or in any capacity in which support would be beneficial, for no matter how long or short a time.
- To provide an environment conducive to sharing experiences, inspiration and support from people who understand the emotional turmoil of cancer.
- To form bonds with each other through the sharing of our faith, stories, experiences, concerns and hopes.
- To provide an environment where spiritual support takes priority.
- To share our belief that everything is driven by God. That He is the Great Healer and of the comfort and peace one can achieve by starting a relationship with Him. Knowing that when you ask God the “WHY” question, he always answers – but we need to learn how to listen.
- Match cancer patient/caregiver with a partner/encourager/Prayer Warrior from within our Church.
- To laugh understand the importance of laughter on this journey.
Ongoing
- Seek out and provide ongoing training seminars for our cancer support volunteers and partner encouragers.
- As we mature ….let our referrals come from the medical community, social institutions, churches and other cancer patients.
- Strike up relationships with medical, social and hospice organizations, as well as other cancer-related service providers and local churches within the greater Plano community. This will enable us to provide the most valuable resources to those we serve.
- Encourage local churches to start cancer support ministries within their congregations. Maintain an on-going networking relationship with each organization, sharing experiences, receiving continuing knowledge, education, training and encouragement.
- Promote cancer awareness and cancer education in the community. Change the perception that cancer is a death sentence. Educate people how to live an anti-cancer lifestyle.
